Kurtz, Ira Arthur of NYC and Belleair, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2012. Beloved Husband of LaReine Kurtz. Loving Father of Deborah and Carolyn. Devoted Grandfather of Jack. Dear Brother of Estelle Feine.
Ira served in the US Navy and spend some of his tour of duty aboard the USS Laffey as a DK2, (payroll clerk), 1960-63. Ira was very proud of this ship and attended many volunteer work parties with the USS Laffey Association, helping maintain the condition of this ship, which is part of the maritime museum, Patriots Point, in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He will certainly be miss by his shipmates.
Services for Ira will be Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, 11:15AM at “The Riverside” W. 76th St. & Amsterdam Avenue, New York City. Interment will be at Mount Holiness Cemetery in Butler, New Jersey.
