Well about twenty minutes later here he comes with his friends. There were
twenty-two of them all together and they all started to dive on us at once and
poor little us all by ourselves out there so you can see we didn't have much of a
chance because they were coming from all directions and you just can't shoot
every way at once.
Well the first one came in and we got it and then two of them started to come in
on each side of the ship. Well we got one of them, but the other one hit the ship
and blew up on a 40 mm gun. Well gas flew all over and caught fire. Then all
our ammunition around the gun blew up and the magazine under the gun went.
Well that three killed 16 men and hurt 27 lost at the same time. Then happened
two more of them crashed into the side of the after mount. Well that put the mount
out and only 6 men got out of it, the rest we never did find.
