Please see attached which may be of interest – a letter to my father who was the Asst naval Attaché in Singapore at the time when DD724 called, I think, en route from action in the far East to restock and rest on her way back to USA.

Dad received a box of fine cigars from the captain at that time; having done justice to the contents in the officers mess he used the box to contain his 1939-45 war medals, sadly he passed away aged 88 in 2002. My son Matthew now has the original of the attached letter which he keeps in the cigar box, hope you enjoy the connection,
